Dear Parent/Carer,
At Aberhill Primary, we want every family to feel welcome, supported, and valued from the very beginning. The following information is designed to help you get to know our school, understand what matters to us, and see how we work together to give your child the best possible start. We know that starting or moving to a new school can feel like a big step, and we are here to support both you and your child every step of the way.
Our staff team firmly believes that children flourish when school and families work in partnership. By nurturing strong relationships and keeping communication open, we can ensure that every child feels safe, cared for, and ready to learn. This booklet may not answer every question you have, so please know you are always welcome to contact us - we are here to help.
Arrangements for parents to visit the school
We warmly encourage parents and carers to be involved and connected with school life. Throughout the year, we offer:
- open sessions and school events where you are very much part of the school experience
- parent/teacher meetings to discuss progress and wellbeing
- informal opportunities to join us for celebrations and community activities
We value two way communication and work hard to ensure that you always feel listened to, informed, and included.
If you would like to arrange a visit to look around the school, please phone or write to us and we will be happy to organise a suitable time.
Each summer term, we work closely with our local nurseries - Paxton, Woodlands, and Methilhaven - to arrange transition visits for new entrants and their families. These visits are an important part of helping children feel confident and secure as they move from nursery to primary school, allowing us to get to know each child as an individual.
At Aberhill Primary, we operate an open door approach and warmly welcome parents and carers to share in their child’s learning. If you ever have a question, concern, or simply want to check in, please do not hesitate to contact us. We are always here to support your family.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Cheryl Houston
