About Thornton Memorial Park
Area: 21 acres / 9 hectares
The park opened in 1921 as a memorial to the First and Second World Wars. The memorial gates at the northern entrance carry bronze plaques listing the names of local servicemen from regiments including the Black Watch and the King’s Own Scottish Borderers who died in WWI and WWII.
