Leslie Nursery was built in 1962. Originally it was used as a day nursery to support the mothers who worked in the local paper mills. Most of the children then had full time places.

Presently, although we can offer full time places should the need arise, the majority of the children have 5 x 2 ½ hour sessions per week. The children come from the catchment area with a few 'out of catchment'. Most of the children will attend Leslie Primary School.

The nursery is situated in extensive grounds which have been developed over the past ten years to provide an exciting and stimulating learning environment for children. In October 2001 the nursery was presented with a special award recognizing our ongoing commitment to the Grounds for Learning Scheme.

Our school aims are in our school booklet.

We have regular contact with the local school, health visitors, visiting professionals (speech and language therapist, teacher for the visually impaired, teacher of English as a second language, dental nurse, school patrol officer).

The Nursery takes part in the Forest Kindergarten Project and the Eco Schools Project.  We were awarded our 2nd Green Flag in May 2007.

We are pleased to meet with parents who wish to discuss any aspects of our school.
