The Fife Equipment Loan Store (FELS) works in partnership with NHS Fife and Fife Council. It provides equipment on loan to help people live safely and independently at home.

What equipment is available?

FELS can provide items such as:

  • beds
  • hoists
  • bathroom equipment
  • dpecialist equipment for children

This equipment helps to:

  • support people leaving hospital sooner
  • prevent hospital or long-term care admissions
  • help children access education

Assessment for equipment

A trained professional will assess your needs. This may include:

  • an Occupational Therapist
  • a Physiotherapist
  • a Community Nurse
  • a Social Care Worker

If you or someone you know needs support, ask for help from Fife Council.

What happens next?

If equipment is required, the professional will place an order. Once approved, Fife Council will arrange:

  • delivery
  • collection (uplift)
  • repairs

Returning equipment

All FELS equipment has a label. If you no longer need it, return it so it can be:

  • refurbished
  • recycled
  • reused by others in Fife

Faulty or broken equipment

If your equipment is damaged or not working, contact the Fife Equipment Loan Store for a replacement:

If you require a repair outwith FELS working hours for:

  • a hoist
  • a stand aid
  • a hospital bed
  • an air mattress

Arrange collection or drop-off

You can:

  • ask for equipment to be collected from your home
  • take it to a local recycling centre (except Cupar and Ladybank)
