Bairns Hoose

Bairns Hoose exterior

This collaborative, multi-agency project transformed a former local office building into a purpose-designed support hub for children and young people, making full use of the existing building footprint.

The refurbishment created four acoustically enhanced accommodation areas, each with dedicated toilet facilities, tea preparation areas, waiting spaces, specialist rooms, and secure external access. A central staff room provides shared facilities for partner organisations. External works included creating a secure garden area and improving site access.

By bringing four support agencies together in one location, the facility provides a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed environment where children and young people who have experienced or witnessed abuse or harm can access a range of services under one roof. This reduces the need for families to travel between multiple venues and supports a more coordinated approach to care.

Property Services provided detailed design plans and client support services, and Fife Council Building Services, in conjunction with local contractors, undertook the work.
