The Lord-Lieutenant appoints Deputy Lieutenants. In Fife we currently have a Vice Lord-Lieutenant and 17 Deputy Lieutenants (listed below) who support the Lord-Lieutenant in his role.
The primary role of the Vice Lord-Lieutenant is to act as the deputy for the Lord-Lieutenant, stepping in with full authority whenever they are unavailable or unable to perform their duties. The Deputy Lieutenants assist the Lord-Lieutenant in acting as the Monarch’s representative across Fife at various events.
