Communities across Fife are being invited to enjoy a fun, informative and free family day out at Lochore Meadows Country Park this summer.

Fife Council Safer Communities’ popular Community Safety Event returns on Wednesday 8 July, from 10am to 2pm, bringing together a wide range of organisations and services dedicated to keeping people safe.

Now in its fourth year, the event has become a firm favourite in the local calendar, offering interactive activities, safety advice and engaging demonstrations for all ages.

With summer in full swing, water safety will be a key focus, with Fife Council’s Outdoor Education team hosting a range of ‘come and try’ activities including paddleboarding, kayaking and canoeing. Visitors are encouraged to wear suitable clothing and footwear (no flipflops) and bring a towel if they wish to take part.

Highlights of the day will include water rescue demonstrations at 11am and 1pm, delivered by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Newfoundland Club.

A variety of partner organisations will also be in attendance, including Fife Council’s Tenant Participation Team, Police Scotland (including community officers and road traffic police), Police Scotland Youth Volunteers, the RNLI, Fife Coast and Countryside Trust, the Army and the Fife Violence Against Women Partnership.

Safe a Life for Scotland will also offer hands-on activities, including CPR training, giving visitors the chance to learn potentially life-saving skills.

Councillor Margaret Kennedy, convener of Fife’s Community Safety Partnership, said: “This is a fantastic event that really brings our communities together in a positive and engaging way.

“It’s not only a fun day out for families, but also a great opportunity to learn practical skills and get advice that can help keep you and your loved ones safe.

“With so many organisations involved, there’s something for everyone.

“I’d encourage anyone looking for a free, enjoyable day out to come along and get involved.”

Visitors can enjoy the outdoors, meet local services and learn more about staying safe, all in a welcoming and family-friendly setting.

Everyone is welcome.
