The Dunfermline based company, Optos, very generously donated money to Fife Coast & Countryside Trust for the Lyne Burn Project to allow us to buy over 1000 native broadleaf trees to plant along the burn in Rex Park. We were then delighted to welcome three groups of volunteers from Optos who kindly gave their time to come out to Rex Park and plant trees in freezing conditions at the end of November! These riparian trees will play a crucial role in helping to improve the health and productivity of the burn, when suitable trees are planted in the riparian zone, they protect river banks, control erosion, increase biodiversity, filter pollutants and capture and recycle mineral nutrients.
We look forward to seeing these trees grow and thrive along the Lyne Burn for many years to come. Once again many thanks to Optos for their generosity in donating both the trees and their time!
