A Modern Apprenticeship (MA) is a great way to start or develop your career. It provides you with the best of both worlds - not only do you earn while you learn, you will gain hands on experience and a qualification too!
A Modern Apprentice is:
The structured MA programme is designed to teach the skills you need to perform a job well. Along the way there will be objectives and goals to achieve to make sure you are learning, progressing and being supported at each stage.
You’ll gain experience in the workplace while working towards a qualification through block or day release at college, online study or meeting with a learning provider in the workplace.

A Graduate Apprenticeship is another great way to start or develop your career. You will get the chance to work in a supportive team and earn a salary while attending university to gain a degree.

A traineeship provides a route into a specific role with a programme of on-the-job training whilst studying to achieve either a professional or technical qualification required for their role.
Most traineeships last three years, however the duration will depend on the required qualification and details will be provided within the advert.

We offer valuable placements in supportive teams for students undertaking a qualification which requires a period of work experience as part of the qualification, or an opportunity for a recent graduate to build on a qualification and learning with work experience.

We recognise that some young people need further support and guidance at the pre-employment stage of their development. This may be linked to employability, personal or social development needs.
We run academies to allow young people to attend an introductory programme and gain essential skills needed for successful employment, including:
Academies can run for up to 26 weeks and be general or specific to an upcoming role.
Academies are advertised through Opportunities Fife.
There may be an allowance paid for the duration of the academy to unemployed or people working less than 16 hours per week.
Gaining experience in the workplace can start while still at school and Foundation Apprenticeships provide a fantastic work-based learning opportunity for senior phase secondary school pupils, typically commencing in S5 and finishing at the end of S6.
We support foundation apprenticeships by providing learners with appropriate work-based opportunities to enable them to develop their learning and skills.

If you are ready for work but require some support, possibly due to limited or no prior work experience, our Life Chances programme can provide a supported placement to someone on the employability pathway.
A Life Chances placement is a paid placement, usually in an entry level role. It normally lasts for 13 weeks, although some flexibility is possible.
During the placement, employability support will be provided either from Fife Council or a partner provider such as Fife Gingerbread or Rural Skills Scotland and a “buddy” will be assigned for further support.
On successful completion of the placement, participants will normally be provided with a job offer. You will continue to be fully supported in your new role, with employability support offered for 12 months, including the initial 13-week life chances placement.
