Fife Justice Social Work Service works with individuals who are involved in the Justice system in Fife. We work in partnership with others to ensure that individuals who have offended address the underlying causes of their behaviour and pay back to the community when appropriate. We aim to encourage rehabilitation, reduce re-offending, and protect the public, leading to fewer victims and safer communities. Our services are person-centred, and trauma informed, and we have made a commitment to the participation of people with lived experience in the planning, design, and development of our services.
We welcome the changes being introduced by the SSSC around the NQSW Supported Year and have been actively working with colleagues in workforce development to support the introduction of this from October 2024.
All new staff will receive a Service Induction Pack which will provide information about the role & remit of each team, links to Fife Council policies and procedures, and an individual tailored induction plan. No work will be allocated during this induction period. This will be followed by a further period of ongoing learning which will be supported by your Senior Practitioner and Team Manager.
Newly Qualified staff will receive formal supervision every two weeks for their first three months. Thereafter, the frequency of formal supervision will be amended as determined by the supervisor and supervisee. All staff will receive formal supervision at a minimum of every 6 weeks thereafter, however this can be increased at any time as required. In addition to formal supervision, teams offer a wealth of support including informal supervision, case discussions, team meetings and development days.
In addition to council wide training offerings, Fife Justice offer a fantastic programme of learning, which is bespoke to Justice Social Work. We also deliver a ‘New to Justice’ Forum, themed learning sessions and have a dedicated Justice Learning Platform.
