Fife Council has introduced a trial “School Exclusion Zone” (SEZ) in School Lane, Cardenden for Denend Primary and Nursery School. This is a trial site for Fife and has been introduced by means of an Experimental Traffic Regulation Order (ETRO).
FAQs
A School Exclusion Zone (also known as a School Street) is to prevent non-residential traffic from using the road network outside a school entrance gate, and / or in surrounding streets, at set periods of the school day – typically during start and finish times. The restriction is a motor vehicles prohibition (pedestrian and cycle zone) that would only be operational when lights are activated on the entry sign.

Back To TopIt is intended to have the trial operational for 18 months. During the trial feedback will be welcomed with the trial periodically reviewed. A decision will be made by elected Councillors at an appropriate Committee on whether to make the SEZ permanent or not.
Back To TopIt is encouraged that you to travel actively to the school, however it is appreciated some may need to drive to school. A Park and Stride area will be designated on Main Road south of the railway bridge (3 – 4 mins walk). Park and Stride areas are also available in parking spaces behind the Sheltered Housing flats on Station Road and at the Railway Station. See also plan. Please be considerate of others and park responsibly.
Back To TopThere are a couple of other trial SEZ sites and based on feedback on whether these trial sites were successful on meeting their objectives, an appropriate Committee will decide on potential roll-out to other schools.
