In your application and at any subsequent interview, you will be asked to do two things to allow us to assess your suitability for the post:
- Demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria in the role profile
- Use examples to demonstrate how your behaviour aligns with our How We Work Matters guide
You can use examples from work, study, volunteering or home to do this. Remember to tell us what you did!
Don’t forget to provide us with full contact details, including email address, of at least two people who can provide a reference. Normally, one will be your current or most recent employer. We will need references to cover the last 3 years and we don’t accept friends or family.

After the advert closes, we will assess all applications against the job criteria and decide who to progress to the next stage. You will be notified of the outcome by email so it is important that you check regularly.

You may be asked to bring original documents to confirm that you meet the essential criteria for a role. This may include:
- Registration with a regulatory body, including Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC), General Teaching Council (GTC) or other professional organisation
- Achievement of the required educational and/or professional qualifications and memberships. You can verify your qualifications at www.sqa.org.uk, www.scqf.org.uk or for overseas qualifications www.naric.org.uk.
- Holding the required driving licence
- For Disclosure/PVG, you should bring at least three separate forms of identity which confirm your name, date of birth and current home address
If you are unable to demonstrate that you meet the essential criteria for a post or have the right to work in the UK, we will not be able to proceed with your application.
