Returning your community alarm

Saving...

If you no longer need your community alarm, you should let us know. We need to arrange to get the community alarm returned to us. It may be that you can return it to us yourself, at your nearest Customer Service Centre. In other circumstances, we may need to uplift it for you.

There are two options, depending on the type of community alarm you have:

1. Community alarm with enhanced Telecare

These alarms have added benefits, for your safety. The complex nature of these systems means we need to disconnect the alarm for you. The telecare that we offer includes:

  • Fall Detector
  • Door Monitor
  • Smoke/Heat Detector
  • Gas/CO Detector
  • Epilepsy Monitor
  • Hypothermia/Low Temperature Detector
  • Flood Detectors
  • Bed/Chair Exit Detectors
  • Bed/Chair Occupancy Detectors
  • Pill Dispensers

2. Community alarm with no enhancements

These alarms have a simple box, attached to your phone line. These systems are quite easy to disconnect yourself.

How to disconnect your Community Alarm:

  • Intellilink (Alarm has a red button in the centre with a green and orange button either side)
    • Disconnect the telephone line
    • Unplug the mains adaptor from the wall socket
    • Wait until the two red lights flash
    • Press and hold down the orange button
    • The light will come on and there will be a series of beeps – keep holding down on the orange button
    • Press and release the green button. (All the lights will turn on)
    • Release the orange button
    • All the lights will flash, and the unit will beep for approximately five seconds
    • The battery will have switched off when the beeps stop
  • Care Unity (Alarm has a red button in the centre with a button with a house and a button with a heart on either side)
    • Disconnect the telephone line
    • Unplug the mains adapter from the wall socket and wait around 45 seconds
    • The small battery light on the top of the unit will flash
    • Press and hold down the small button with the diagram of a house on it
    • Press and hold down the button with the diagram of a heart on it
    • Release both buttons
    • All the lights will flash and the unit will beep
    • The battery will have switched off when the beep stops

In all circumstances, please call us first before sending back your community alarm. We need to log all your details and make sure the correct departments know it’s being returned. We can also arrange to uplift it if you can’t return it yourself.

Please call us on 03451 55 15 03, Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm, to arrange to return your community alarm. You can also email the social work contact centre at SW.Contactctr@fife.gov.uk
