Town centre bin switch

Coronavirus - Waste and recycling services

Please check for latest updates about services changes due to coronavirus

Properties in town centres that have a grey bin for landfill will be swapped for a blue landfill bin of the same size. Fife Council are doing this to make it easier to identify landfill bins and make the colour consistent across Fife.

Cupar town centre is the first to be switched over to the standard colour landfill bin on Friday 6th December 2019.

If you have a grey landfill bin please put it out on your normal collection day Friday 6th December. If you have a blue paper bin please put this out for collection on the same day. Fife Council will swap your bins for the same colour as the rest of Fife, Blue landfill and grey paper & card. Both will be the same size as your current grey bin (240 litres).

We will sticker your bins to indicate what goes in them, it will take a while to get used to the switch!

If you miss the switch please call the recycling helpline on 03451 550022 to arrange a switch to the correct colour.

There are no changes to what goes in the bin or the size of your bin, we are only switching the colour to make it the same as the rest of Fife.

The next town centre to be switched will be St Andrews followed by Dunfermline. These will be done in 2020.

Fife Council will be looking at the options for providing recycling to town centre residents over the next few months. If you have space for recycling bins or would like a recycling service please email
