Nestling in the village of Auchtertool which sits on the B925, Kirkcaldy to Crossgates road, Camilla House is located on the main road which runs through the village. Enjoying a tranquil village setting surrounded by the scenic countryside of rural Fife the nursing home is still close to the towns of Kirkcaldy, Cowdenbeath, Lochgelly and Dunfermline.

The nursing home and its residents enjoy an important place in village life with regular visits from the children of the primary school which is situated opposite and visits to the local Community Hall.

Camilla House was a hotel prior to being converted into a Nursing Home in 1990. During 2006 it benefitted from a 15-bedroom extension. A major refurbishment of the original part of the building was completed in summer 2008. At that time a direct-dial telephone system with itemised billing was installed in bedrooms, swing-free door closers linked to the fire detection system fitted, and a sprinkler system installed in all areas.

Camilla House benefits from its own landscaped gardens where residents can enjoy the fresh air and flowers. The nursing home now caters for 40 residents with 38 single rooms and 2 double rooms for couples. All bedrooms feature en-suite toilets and shower rooms. Bedrooms on the upper floor are serviced by a lift.
