Local Residents & Businesses

AIG Women's Open 2024 - St Andrews

Information for local residents and businesses

Waste Collection

Disruption to refuse collections in St Andrews should be kept to a minimum and measures to service refuse of commercial customers will be put in place. Any changes to the collection of domestic waste will be advertised on www.fife.gov.uk and Fife Council social media channels.

Local Traffic and Parking

A local traffic plan is being developed to keep key areas of the town free flowing and to allow all residents and businesses to go about their daily activities as usual with as little disruption as possible. We advise all residents and business owners to plan ahead and check local traffic restrictions to see how they or their customers might be affected.

Please be aware, access to east and west sections of Petheram Bridge car park will only be permitted to those with event access passes between Sunday 18 to Sunday 25 August. A limited number of passes for this car park for residents and business will be made available.

For Residents on The Scores, Murray Park, Golf Place, North Castle Street and East Scores

Parking schemes for residents only will be in place on Murray Park and a limited section of The Scores. To qualify for a permit, residents must live on The Scores, Murray Park, North Castle Street or East Scores.

To apply for a resident’s permit, please contact Fife Council by emailing Parking.Permits@fife.gov.uk by Friday 19 July 2024 who will ask for proof of address and ownership of vehicle.

Please keep checking the Updates page for information on how to collect your resident permit

For Displaced Business Parking

For businesses located on West Sands, a limited number of parking spaces will also be made available for your staff and customers who are Blue Badge holders to access West Sands Road.

Businesses located on The Scores, Murray Park, Links Road and Golf Place can also apply for a parking pass in Petheram Bridge car park where a limited number of spaces will be made available.

Murray Place car park and the parking spaces on the through road from the University roundabout to Station Road (Petheram Bridge north) will be open as normal. Businesses are advised to make their way to these locations early as possible, as demand is expected to be high. No permits are required.

AIG Women’s Open Construction Information

Together with Fife Council, The R&A is developing a plan to enable construction work to commence. During the construction phase, on-course infrastructure will be built across the Old Course and its surrounding land between Monday 24 June and Wednesday 21 August.

The R&A will set up a site reporting office on Old Guardbridge Road so all deliveries can be managed safely to keep disruption on local roads to a minimum. The standard hours of operation during the build will be from 7am – 7pm each day, including weekends. Following the AIG Women’s Open, a phased de-rig will occur working to the same operational hours as the construction phase. This is anticipated to be completed by Sunday 15 September.
