Paediatric First Aid course

first aid dummy Fife Council's Community Use Schools offer a number of approved Paediatric First Aid courses throughout the year. Suitable for adults who work with or parents/adults responsible for the care of young children, this 6 hour training course will teach basic first aid principles.

Topics covered include:

Module 1 - Introduction - the First Aider
Module 2 - What is First Aid?
Module 3 - First Aid in the workplace
Module 4 - Responsibilities of the appointed person
Module 5 - Primary assessment
Module 6 - Principles of resuscitation
Module 7 - Secondary assessment
Module 8 - Disorders of respiration & breathing disorders
Module 9 - The recognition & treatment of head injury
Module 10 - The control of bleeding & treatment for shock
Module 11 - Bones, joints & muscle injuries
Module 12 - Burns
Module 13 - Poisons
Module 14 - Bites & stings
Module 15 - Childhood conditions

This course costs £55.00 and has been approved for Individual Learning Account (ILA) funding.

Individual Learning Accounts (ILAs) are for people who are 16 or over and living in Scotland. You can apply for an ILA if you are not in education, do not have a degree or above and are not taking part in training through the Employability Fund or Modern Apprenticeship, or if you are not participating on the Community Jobs Scotland programme. You must also have an income of £22,000 a year or less, or be on benefits to be eligible to get up to £200 towards the costs of learning or training with an Individual Learning Account from Skills Development Scotland.
