Paediatric First Aid course

First Aid Fife Council's Community Use Schools offer a number of approved Paediatric First Aid courses throughout the year. Suitable for adults who work with or parents/adults responsible for the care of young children, this 6 hour training course will teach basic first aid principles.

Topics covered include:

Module 1 - Introduction - the First Aider
Module 2 - What is First Aid?
Module 3 - First Aid in the workplace
Module 4 - Responsibilities of the appointed person
Module 5 - Primary assessment
Module 6 - Principles of resuscitation
Module 7 - Secondary assessment
Module 8 - Disorders of respiration & breathing disorders
Module 9 - The recognition & treatment of head injury
Module 10 - The control of bleeding & treatment for shock
Module 11 - Bones, joints & muscle injuries
Module 12 - Burns
Module 13 - Poisons
Module 14 - Bites & stings
Module 15 - Childhood conditions

This course costs £50.00 and has been approved for Individual Learning Account (ILA) funding. Through Skills Development Scotland, you may be eligible to apply for an Individual Learning Account giving you up to £200 to spend on learning or training. ILAs are for people who are 16 or over and living in Scotland. You must have an income of £22,000 a year or less, or be on benefits to be eligible.
If you are not in education, do not have a degree or above and are not taking part in a National Training Programme (Modern Apprenticeship, Get Ready for Work or Training for Work) you can apply for an ILA.
