Libraries and Archives
You may have heard about proposals to change Fife's library services, including the closure of some. Read more about it and take part in our consultation here.
If you live, work or study in Fife, or even if you are just visiting, you can join any of our community libraries and choose from a wide range of services.
There are 51 community libraries, 3 mobile libraries and a housebound service.
Go to The Reading Room to find out about new books and promotions, how to join our Reading Groups, read our FREE magazines on your pc or tablet, and much more.
If you'd like to find out about the history of your area or family then Libraries, Museums & Archives have unique and important collections to help you.
The Archive Centre in Markinch holds the principal collection of historical records of civic life in Fife. Their role is to ensure the permanent preservation of the records and to make them available to members of the public.
Why not visit and use the online archives catalogue search to see the sort of records they hold or to look for something specific!
Libraries, Arts, Museums & Archives (LAMA) services are now part of Fife Cultural Trust, a Company limited by guarantee (incorporated in Scotland). Company Number: SC415704 A Scottish charity: charity number SC043442
Fife Cultural Trust manages and operates LAMA services on behalf of Fife Council. Customers will not be affected by this change, with all buildings and services open as normal. All staff contact details remain the same and information will still be available on the existing website ww.fifedirect.org.uk while we develop our own website.
onfife.com currently acts as a portal for all Fife Cultural Trust services and this website is being redeveloped to host the full breadth of work undertaken by the Trust.
