As the days and nights grow colder and darker, winter weather could bring problems to our roads. Fife Council has dedicated teams working to keep vital services and roads open whatever the weather.  Fife is one of a few local authorities in Scotland that is on 24-hour standby during the winter months.

Busy commuter roads are cleared first, especially if they are bus routes or roads that give access to hospitals, ambulance depots and schools. Only when these are attended to can other streets and cul-de-sacs be treated.
