Housing Asset Management
We have clearly defined objectives for our housing assets and are in the process of compiling an Asset Management Strategy by August 2010.
The Strategy will draw heavily from existing Plans including the:
- Housing Service Plan
- Standard Delivery Plan and 30 year HRA Business Plan
- Local Housing Strategy
We actively manage our assets through a number of programmes:
- Estate Action programmes focus on property issues in estates and engage with the community to drive solutions such as conversion or demolition. We work with local Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) to provide new housing on cleared sites
- Conversion programmes focus on issues such as difficult to let properties and local demand to provide solutions by converting flatted properties into bigger houses for larger families and addressing unpopular house types such as bedsits
- Have a well-established process for converting or adapting houses to suit tenants with disabilities or special needs in conjunction with the Social Work Occupational Therapy Service
