Trusted Trader scheme
Protective Services are warning consumers to be on their guard when employing tradesmen to carry out repair work on their homes. The recent storms in particular may be followed by traders calling door to door to offer emergency roofing repairs for example.
John Geddes, team leader said, “We recommend that consumers do not employ doorstep callers for home improvement work. Many rogue and itinerant traders operate in this way. Any problems that arise can be very difficult to resolve as the trader is often not contactable”.
John continued, “We operate the Trusted Trader approval scheme. Customers who use a trusted trader provide feedback on how well the work was carried out. This feedback is published on an independent online database.
Before employing a trader to work in your home you can search the database for a local trader and check the feedback from their previous customers. This can give you extra peace of mind knowing you will be able to trust our members to treat you fairly and help avoid rogue traders”.
