The 53 Pits of Levenmouth

Put together by the Friends of Methil Heritage this comprehensive exhibition brings alive the coalmining history of the Levenmouth area.

From the larger and well known Michael and Wellesley collieries to the smaller, forgotten pits of Lady Lillian and Happy Mine, the exhibition pays tribute to an industry which once employed nearly a quarter of Fife’s workforce.
