Ladybank School was built in the 1890s and is a single storey, Victorian building which accommodates 5 classrooms, a central hall used for P.E. and Drama and a dining hall. An annex building accommodates the Nursery and Primary 1 classes as well as the music room.
The school serves the village of Ladybank along with the outlying hamlets of Edenstown and Giffordtown and several farms and isolated homes. The Nursery takes from these areas and is also the designated Nursery for the village of Letham. The children from Ladybank transfer to Bell Baxter High School in Cupar.
Ladybank School is co-educational, non-denominational and takes children from 3-12 years of age. The Nursery has morning and afternoon openings, with children attending either one or the other on a half- day basis.
The main aim of Ladybank School is to enable each child to achieve his or her potential through an appropriate curriculum, motivated staff, a caring, supportive ethos and strong partnership with parents. Children are encouraged to reflect on their work and share the responsibility for identifying personal progress and future learning targets.
We have visiting teachers for Art, Music, Drama and PE. Several children in the upper school are being taught to play the piano by the visiting music instructor.
We have a very active Parent Partnership and Fundraising sub group who are consulted on aspects of school developements and who organise successful fund raising social events throughout the school session to provide the school with money to buy much appreciated ‘extras’ and help with transport costs for outings.
We are always happy to meet with parents to discuss issues or concerns outwith the formal Parent Interviews, which take place each year in October and March. Further opportunities for parents to be involved in the life of the school include Open Afternoons held in December and June, invitations to school assemblies and concerts and opportunities to be parent helpers in the classrooms and on school outings, in addition we welcome input from parents and carers for class projects.
