Anstruther Pittenweem Kellie This route is 19 miles in total and is on and off road. There are some hilly stretches. Suitable for adults and older children. This route could be tough for some. The route begins in Anstruther the largest of the East Neuk fishing communities and home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum. It takes you inland, through the many farms of the East Neuk, and past Kellie Castle which, with its gardens is cared for by the National Trust for Scotland. You’ll also be able to take a detour into Pittenweem and explore the hilly wynds and closes between its fisher houses.You can cycle the route in either direction but we suggest you follow the guidelines below to cycle in a clockwise direction. 19.0000001192 miles
Cairneyhill Crossford Crombie This route is 9 miles in total. There are some hilly stretches. Suitable for Adults and older children. This route is fun for all. The route begins in Cairneyhill and takes you through Crossford, now a commuter town for Dunfermline. You can make a detour to visit the model village and harbour of Charlestown. Part of the route takes you along the off road West Fife Cycle Way which follows the former Dunfermline to Alloa railway.

Ceres St Andrews Pitscottie This route is 19.5 miles (31 km) in distance. It is on and off road and is suitable for adults with older children. It is a hilly route and might be tough for some.

This route begins in Ceres. The Fife Folk Museum tells the story of the people who lived off the land in these parts. The route leads you out of the heart of the Howe and towards the coast at St Andrews, famous for golf and Scotland’s oldest university but with many more stories to tell at its Castle, Cathedral, 3 museums and Sea Life Centre. As you cycle between the communities, you’ll see the rich farmland with many fine old farmsteads. You can cycle this route in either direction but we suggest you follow the guidelines below.

Crail Wormiston Kippo This route is 12 miles in total and is on and off road. There are some hilly stretches. Suitable for adults and older children. This route could be tough for some. The route begins in Crail, the most painted and photographed of all the fishing towns, and takes you inland through the farmland of the East Neuk. As you cycle back to the coast you can visit Fife Ness, the most easterly point in Fife, before returning to Crail’s historic streets and harbour. You can cycle the route in either direction but we suggest you follow the guidelines below to cycle in an anticlockwise direction. 12 miles
Culross Cairneyhill Torry Bay This route is 13.5 miles in total and is on and off road. There are some hilly stretches. Suitable for adults and older children, this route could be tough for some. The route begins in Culross, one of the most picturesque villages in Scotland. You’ll cycle along the coast near Torry Bay, a local nature reserve, where you can enjoy a pleasant rest and do a spot of bird watching. Part of the route joins with the West Fife Cycle Way offering you some off road cycling on the former Dunfermline to Alloa railway.

Cupar Freuchie Chance Inn This route is 22 miles in total and is on and off road. There are some hilly streches. Suitable for Adults and older children. This route could be tough for some.

This route begins in Cupar, the seat of the Macduffs, thanes or earls of Fife, and runs through the very heart of the Howe. It takes in several towns and villages including Ladybank, Kingskettle, Freuchie and Chance Inn. You can cycle the route in either direction but we suggest you follow the guidelines below.

Dunfermline Charlestown Limekilns This route is 11 miles in total and is on and off road. The route is reasonably flat and is suitable for adults and younger children. This route begins in Dunfermline and takes you along a section of the off road West Fife Cycle Way on the former Dunfermline to Alloa railway. You’ll cycle through farmland and villages such as Charlestown, Scotland’s first planned, industrial village which integrated houses and workplaces, and Limekilns, with its harbour of Bruce Haven.

Elie Kilconquhar Largoward This route is 19 miles long and is on and off road. There are some hilly stretches. Suitable for adults and older children. This route could be tough for some. The route begins in Elie which united with its neighbour, Earlsferry, in 1929 to form one burgh. You’ll cycle through both these villages and into the farmland beyond to Kilconquhar and Largoward.

Kingdom Route This route is 109 miles in total and is on and off road. Suitable for adults and older children. This route could be tough for some. Kingdom Route North - this route takes you through the west and north of Fife between the Forth and Tay Road Bridges. You will discover the many faces of Fife’s landscape as you cycle past the former mining towns of south west Fife, through the Cleish Hills, between the farms of the Howe and by the harbours of the Tay.

Kingdom Route South - this route takes you through the east and south of Fife between the Tay and Forth road bridges. From the Firth of Tay and the forest at Tentsmuir you’ll cycle past the historic university and golfing town of St Andrews. The route takes you through the farmland of the Howe of Fife and the towns of the south of the kingdom, down to the shores of the Firth of Forth.

Ladybank Auchtermuchty Falkland This route is 15.5 miles and is on and off road. It is suitable for Adults with older children and has some hilly stretches.

This route begins in Ladybank, a relatively new town in Howe of Fife, made a burgh in 1878. The route runs through villages and towns including Auchtermuchty where, for a long time, linen weaving was one of the main industries. If you allow yourself plenty of time to cycle this route you can visit the picturesque village of Falkland with its strong connections with the Scottish royal family.

Newburgh Auchtermuchty Pitmedden This route is 17.7 miles in total and is on and off road. There are some hilly stretches. Suitable for adults and older children. This route could be tough for some. The route begins in Newburgh, on the Firth of Tay and takes you through both farmland and forest in the Howe of Fife. It takes in the town of Auchtermuchty, the setting for the TV drama Doctor Finlay’s Casebook and a good place to stop and rest. You’ll also cycle through Pitmedden Forest where you can enjoy some off road cycling on the forest routes. 17.500000298 miles
Ports of Tay This route is 29.5 miles in total (47.5 km). The route is mostly off road due to some route improvements. It would be suitable for adults accompanying children although one section to look out for is crossing the road (A914) between Guardbridge and Leuchars. There are some hilly stretches and it may be tough for some.

This route begins in Tayport, the northernmost town in Fife and once known as Ferryport-on-Craig. You’ll experience both the farmland and the coastal land of Fife as you cycle through the villages of the Howe and the towns beside the Firth of Tay. The route also takes you through Tentsmuir Forest where off road cycling routes allow you to explore the forest.You can cycle this route in either direction but we suggest you follow the guidelines below.

West Fife Cycle Way This route is 8 miles in total and is all off road but also connects with the three circular routes in West Fife if you wish to explore further. The route is reasonably flat and is suitable for adults and younger children. The route begins in Dunfermline, favourite residence of Queen Margaret, who married King Malcolm 3rd of Scotland in 1070. It will take you along a section of the former Dunfermline to Alloa railway. This linear route is all off road but also connects with the three circular routes in West Fife if you wish to explore further.

You can cycle the route in either direction but these guidelines take you from east to west.
